David Muir is an American anchor and journalist best known for his ABC newscast World News Tonight with David Muir and for the ABC News magazine 20/20 for which he serves as a co-anchor. The dramatic footage on video and the animated movements has made it the top watched American newscast. Made In America was nominated for an Emmy. Prior to his appointment as anchor of ABC World News Tonight he was the main substitute anchor for his previous anchor Diane Sawyer. He's reported on a variety of primetime specials for ABC News some recent ones being Breaking Point: Heroin in America as well as Flashpoint The Refugee Crisis in America. He's traveled the world, covering news in Gaza Egypt Iran Somalia Japan Peru Ukraine Haiti & the Gulf of Mexico. He has received multiple Emmy Awards Edward R. Murrow Awards, as well as distinctions by The Associated Press.
